About The Opportunity As an Illegal Dumping Officer your role is important to both the community and the environment and can be both challenging and very rewarding as you instigate enforcement, education and awareness strategies to reduce illegal dumping, as well as;
  • Conduct regular surveillance of illegal dumping hotspots and develop and instigate enforcement and behaviour change strategies to reduce illegal dumping in these areas.
  • Investigate illegal dumping complaints in a timely and effective manner, gather evidence of the person dumping and arrange for the prompt clean-up of illegal dumping sites.
  • Work with Council’s Communications team to create and implement awareness, behaviour change/education campaigns including advertising, signage and media content.
  • Provide a detailed monthly report, using a report template, to demonstrate the extent of illegal dumping and actions taken during that period.

The AFP’s Cryptocurrency Capabilities team (CCT) is broadly responsible for uplifting the AFP’s capability to take appropriate action where cryptocurrencies are identified in investigations. The team provides subject matter expertise and operational support to both criminal and proceeds of crime investigations. The team identifies and addresses risks in the investigation and handling of cryptocurrencies in order to provide guidance around best practice. The CCT is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with international and domestic law enforcement and regulators, industry and academia in the cryptocurrency environment. The team provides investigator training and awareness and a wide array of project work involving cryptocurrencies. These roles sit within Cryptocurrency Capabilities Team in the Criminal Assets Confiscation (CAC) porfolio.  There are multiple roles including:

The key duties of the position include:

Increasing the AFP’s capabilities to take appropriate action where cryptocurrencies are identified in investigations, ensures the AFP is a step ahead of organised crime and can deliver maximum impact to the criminal environment. The AFP must work with industry and partner agencies both domestically and internationally in order to prevent criminals using new technologies to move the proceeds of crime to other jurisdictions. Your role in CCT will include providing Investigator expertise to investigations to identify, trace and seize cryptocurrencies that have been used to facilitate or are the proceeds of crime. These positions present an ideal opportunity for someone wishing to further develop their skills and experience within one of the AFP's most progressive and dynamic teams. Training opportunities will be provided which may include travel interstate and overseas. Cryptocurrency Investigator - Band 5 • You must be an Australian Citizen; • Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance or the ability to obtain one; • Relevant qualifications or experience and knowledge in an area or expertise; • Experience using cryptocurrencies and non-custodial wallets; • Minimum 2 years’ experience in supporting investigations/intelligence gathering (in public or private sector) and/or experience in the cryptocurrency industry; and • Understanding of the cryptocurrency industry and the relevant stakeholders. Senior Cryptocurrency Investigator - Band 6 • You must be an Australian Citizen; • Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance or the ability to obtain one; • Relevant qualifications or experience and knowledge in an area or expertise; • Experience using cryptocurrencies and non-custodial wallets and understanding of how cryptocurrencies work and their features; • Minimum 2 years’ experience leading or providing subject matter expert (SME) assistance to criminal or civil investigations involving cryptocurrencies (in public or private sector) • Understanding of the cryptocurrency industry and the relevant stakeholders; and • An ability to provide evidence regarding cryptocurrencies in legal proceedings as a SME.

Working in a small team, the Senior Investigator in the Office of the Independent Assessor (OIA) will investigate and where appropriate provide brief material to the Independent Assessor for consideration of prosecuting alleged contraventions of the Local Government Act 2009 and/or the City of Brisbane Act 2010. The Office of the Independent Assessor (OIA) exists to improve accountability, integrity and transparency of local governments in Queensland by providing impartial assessment and investigation of all complaints about the conduct of councillors.    The Independent Assessor also provides advice, training and information about dealing with alleged or suspected inappropriate conduct, misconduct or corrupt conduct to councillors, local government employees and the public.  The Independent Assessor also prosecutes misconduct offences via the Councillor Conduct Tribunal (CCT). As a Senior Investigator in the OIA, and reporting to the Deputy Independent Assessor, you will: • Utilise the powers appointed to investigators under Chapter 5A of the Local Government Act 2009 to investigate allegations of misconduct and corrupt conduct. • Assess information against evidentiary requirements of the local government legislation to accurately inform the course of an investigation through the case management process. • Develop investigation plans for assigned cases. • Provide critical technical and evidential advice using collaborative decision-making processes and prepare high quality investigation reports for the Independent Assessor. • Review and prepare coercive notices and exercise coercive powers as delegated. • Conduct complex and/or sensitive and high-profile investigations. • Represent the OIA and give evidence on local government matters heard before the CCT. To be successful in this role you must have demonstrated experience in conducting investigations, applying legislation, policy frameworks and relevant legal concepts in a fast-paced, results driven environment. As a critical thinker you will have excellent communication skills and will value building enduring relationships within a small and effective team. A Certificate IV or Diploma in Investigations and/or Diploma in Government (Investigations) would be highly regarded.
