Sergeant – Office of the Sheriff NSW Grafton
Here’s a cracker of a justice job within the NSW Sheriff’s department. Probably not entry level, but this role in in the justice system, where a Certificate IV in Justice Studies would be handy to hold. Sheriff’s control the activity in and around courthouses, serve document and undertake related duties.
What you’ll do
The role of Sergeant is responsible for undertaking law enforcement duties in compliance with relevant legislations, policies & procedures. They are also responsible for managing a team of Sheriff’s Officers & contributing to the development of team capability.
To be successful in this role you will need to possess good communication skills, problem-solving, conflict resolution and decision-making skills. You will need the ability to effectively manage a team of people and other resources, be adaptable, capable of working within a changing environment and able to learn and apply new skills quickly.
What we’re looking for
- Ability to meet the physical capability and tactical training requirements to be sworn in as a Sheriff’s Officer
- Good understanding of legal principles and processes and the NSW court system.
- Proven experience in the development of operational policies & procedures.
- Willingness and ability to attain relevant skills and knowledge in various ways, including, but not limited to, specifically designed Sheriff’s Office training courses such as the Tactical Training Course and other courses, which have developed relevant to specific work-related skills.
Appointments are subject to the following licences/ clearances:
- Current NSW Driver Licence
- National Criminal Record Checking (fingerprint check)
- Current First Aid certificate
- Evidence of COVID-19 vaccinations
